Political parties inclusive of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC), New Horizon Movement (NHM), Vaal Lekgotla, Democratic Alliance (DA), and Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus), represented in Emfuleni Local Municipality, which has formed a voting block have vowed that they will vote for the removal of Radebe.
The parties want Radebe removed from his position due to, “incompetence and poor service delivery”.

Speaking on behalf of the parties, PAC’s Apa Pooe said that the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) had also responded positively to the motion for the removal of the Radebe, however, they later requested that the motion be temporally withdrawn for further engagements.

“The voting block will continue to engage with the EFF leadership towards ensuring that EFF votes for the removal of the mayor and election of the new Mayor, as the motion cannot be withdrawn in terms of rules and orders of the council and its committees.”

Pooe said that they remain resolute that there should be a change of ELM political leadership, guaranteeing good service delivery, and efficient and responsive administration.

“The municipality has been deteriorating at an unprecedented level and such should be immediately stopped. We further remain committed to making certain that the communities of Emfuleni are kept informed and consulted on the envisaged change in Emfuleni, ensuring that under the new political leadership, there is transparency and accountability.”

Pooe further said that after a very long time, there should be stability in the ELM.

“The anticipated new administration will be inclusive, reflect the democratic wish of the residents of Emfuleni in the last local government elections, wherein no single political party obtained outright majority.”
