CPF community patrollers seize dangerous weapons in Orange Farm

CPF patrollers managed to seize dangerous weapons and drugs when they conducted various operations and stop and searches in Orange Farm.

ORANGE FARMS. -The Community Policing Forum (CPF) community patrollers conducted various operations to combat crime in the Orange Farms policing precinct recently.

The Bicycle Squad patrollers together with Siyabana patrollers and school patrollers managed to recover dangerous weapons and drugs while conducting stop and searches.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Shaan Motsapi says the success managed to prevent other crimes such as stabbings, common robberies, and robbery with weapons other than a firearm which can lead to murder.

“The team also managed to recover drugs including dagga, Nyaope, and crystal meth, which is prevalent around the Orange Farms area. The Bicycle Squad recently had an encounter with a group of boys carrying pangas and knives. The squad managed to seize these weapons,” he said.

“The Siyabangena patrollers subsequently identified a suspicious person who was carrying a bag, immediately when they approached him he left the bag and fled. Upon searching, the patrollers discovered Sector 4 an unknown Nyaopa, crystal meth, and dagga which were inside the bag Motsapi says the drugs and weapons were handed over to the CSC Commander and booked in the police storage.

“No suspects were arrested during the confiscation of the weapons.”

The Sedibeng Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier AM Nkhwashu applauded the effortS made by the CPF community patrollers.

“Such great successes will not go unnoticed. The partnership between the community patrollers and the police will help in combating crime around the Orange Farms policing area.”
