The family of a 12–year–old girl from Kanana is baffled after she died shortly after arriving at the clinic with a high fever last Sunday.
According to the Ikageng SAPS spokesperson, Const. Kelebogile Trom, the police received a call from the Boiki Tlhapi clinic at about 22:45. On their arrival, the nursing sister took them to the child lying on the bed and said she has already passed away.
The girl’s mother said her daughter had been complaining that she had a temperature. She asked her uncle to go to the clinic with them. Tragically, she did not make it and was declared dead on arrival. The paramedic certified her dead, after which her body was transported to the mortuary.
Trom says the cause of death is unknown at this stage and police have opened an inquest into the matter.
