Austria is the next destination for Carletonville’s Moto GP sensation, Brad Binder who is flying the South African flag high in the Moto 3 series on his Red Bull KTM bike. Binder will be racing again on the weekend of 12-14 August during the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, and will hope to take his win tally to four wins this season. Binder, who was born in Potchefstroom but grew up in Carletonville, is currently heading the standings in the Moto 3 series on 159 points. His closest rival is Spain’s Jorge Navarro on 112 points after 9 rounds of the 18-race Moto 3 season. There is a great chance that Binder will become the first South African to take a championship in the Moto 3 class if he continues the great form he showed before the European three-week summer break. Binder started the 2016 Moto 3 season with a second place in Qatar and two third places in Argentina and the United States respectively before winning his maiden race in Spain at the world famous Jerez race track. He continued his amazing form and showed why people in the paddock refer to him as “Bradical” with two further wins on the trot in France and Italy. Binder had a difficult time in his next two races in the Netherlands and Germany where he finished 12th and 8th respectively. Binder will be fresh and ready for the Austrian race and will certainly want to build on his championship lead in the second half of the season. “I feel comfortable and our pace was really good. I want to take this opportunity to thank the team for the spectacular work they have done. Around 80% of the things we have tried have been positive, and that is not at all common in a test. We are ready for the race weekend,” Binder said to
