This has nothing to do with my relationship with Coach Arthur or the club

"This is a brave decision by Coach Arthur to risk his job for the sake of continuity."

What I’m going to write has nothing to do with my relationship with Kaizer Chiefs or Coach Arthur Zwane.

For the first time after a long time Kaizer Chiefs took a brave decision to play more youngsters in the team. Regardless of a mix of results Chiefs must be complemented for their bravery to play the MDC graduates thanks to Coach Arthur.

TOUCHLINE believes that this is the right direction the club is embarking on on despite a mixture of results. The problem with South African football (and its people) is that we think players should start playing at the age of 25, and we refer to them as youngsters.

A matter of fact is that , at age of 25 you are no longer youngsters. TOUCHLINE doesn’t say we should be ‘copy cats’ as a football nation but can we take a leaf from our European counterparts such as Barcelona, Arsenal to mention but two. These two teams are a classic example of the teams that are building for the future.

So why can’t we do the same back here at home?

The problem with South African football is that we don’t believe in young talent because we want ‘ready made’. Look at our Bafana Bafana team, it keeps on recycling same players because we are desperate for success. It is all about short cuts, short cuts and more short cuts. As a football nation we don’t believe in  asolid foundation. Kaizer Chiefs must be complimented for this bold decision to throw in those youngsters in the deep end.

This is how you learn to swim!

Like I said, this has nothing to do with my relationship with the club or Coach Arthur Zwane. It is purely based on facts even though we are a football nation that closes its ears when the truth is told. We must get rid of this short cut mentality if we want to progress as a nation.

We should enjoy our Sunday’s meals while watching football, not just football, but good football that is mouth-watering.
