MIDVAAL. –  Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) has urged member of the community to use the opportunity to engage and give their full input.

This is after the municipality officially kicked off the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) public engagements.

Midvaal’s Senior Media Officer Idah Setike  says, “Section 29 (1) (b) and (ii) of the Municipal Systems Act, 2000 requires that the local community be consulted on its development needs and priorities and participate in the drafting of the IDP.

Setikhe says the engagements will extend across all 15 wards in the municipality.

“We will be listening to the communities we serve as this is non-negotiable. The IDP process is essential as it will assist in linking planning to the municipal budget and allocating funding to identified projects.

“Following the approval of the plan by the Municipal Council, all planned projects and development must comply with the stipulations set out in the IDP.”
