Sobukwe Birthday – Black Power Festival celebrated with a bang!
This annual event is already been planned for this year, 2023.
VEREENIGING. – The Diniso Kasi Arts celebrated the Sobukwe Birthday-Black Power in style at the Diniso Arts Complex in Bedworthpark, Vereeniging during the festive season.
Iga-Makhulu Diniso, Diniso Kasi Arts’ Director said that there was no better way of ending the year 2022 by celebrating one of the greatest leader in Africa in Mangaliso Sobukwe through the respectful approach where revolutionary Arti-culture and ground-breaking Agri-culture were combined to restore dignity, health, moral revival and mental liberation. Diniso said that they are already working towards the second annual celebrations.
This New Year 2023 the build-up schedule towards the 2nd Annual Sobukwe Birthday-Black Power Festival on 5-16 December 2023 will be as follows:
- Kasi-Plays Fest 3-31 March on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with the showcasing of plays from the 16th January to 17th February 2023.
- Kasi-Poetry Feast 2 June to 2 July, with showcasing of poetry recitals from the 3rd April to 26th May 2023 (poetry can include poetry dance or poetry in motion).
- Kasi-Music Fiesta 1 September to 1 October 2023 with music showcasing from 10 July to 25 August 2023.
- Kasi-Truth Talk to Power and Newspaper Clips Exhibition 19-29 October 2023 (observing the 19 October 1977 of the clampdown of the black journalists and newspapers by the Apartheid Regime).
