Barrage SAPS raises awareness about GBV

The purpose of the awareness was to reduce the domestic violence cases and assault cases reported to the police.

BARRAGE.- The Barrage Communications team and the Victim Empowerment Centre embarked on a program for Gender Based Violence awareness at the Mullerstuin Plots recently.

Police Spokesperson Sergeant Nombulelo Mohlakoana said: “The community also raised their concerns about alcohol abuse and drugs abuse in the area, also the lack of schools nearby especially Zulu or IsiXhosa schools that affect learners when going to Boipatong because that’s when they meet with criminals.”

Amongst the stakeholders who participated were Emfuleni Local Municipality SCP, Indibano and Jamela members.

On the 7th December the GBV awareness was taken to Hersa Auction.
