Boipatong hosts candle light event in commemoration of GBV victims

Boipatong police together with various stakeholders and members of the community recently walked the streets in an effort of putting an end to GBV.

BOIPATONG. – In honor of victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Boipatong SAPS, Youth Prevention Desk, Community Policing Forum (CPF), various stakeholders and the community at large hosted a candlelight vigil. The event started with a peaceful walk in remembrance of those who lost their lives due to GBV.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela says: “The event serves to remind our communities that Boipatong SAPS is working tirelessly to end GBV and femicide. We will continue to treat all victims with great care and dignity.” Maxambela states that the event was a build up to the 16 Days of Activism for no violence against women and children.

“Boipatong streets were filled with people spreading a message of awareness and educating people about matters of GBV. Members of our community are urged to be vigilant at all times and ensure that children are taken care of and kept safe at all times.”
