It is that time of the year again!

Local soccer fans are expected to pack the local dusty soccer grounds to capacity to watch amateur football.

EVATON.- At this time of the year, local soccer fans pack the dusty township soccer grounds to watch ‘diski nine’, otherwise known as ‘Kasi Football’ with the tournaments set to kick off in December.

The Pooe Festive Soccer Tournament in Evaton is the most popular tournament in Sedibeng to watch during the festive holidays. This annual tournament is expected to start in the second week of December with a mini tournament to be held to honour the players that have passed away. Apart from football, those with small businesses will once again make extra cash while selling food during the games as it has been a case for all the years.

This Pooe Festive Tournament attracts teams from all over the Gauteng and  the Free State and local soccer fans spend their festive holidays at the venue while the DStv Premiership are on a break. Some of the notable teams that have been part of this tournament and entertain soccer fans include Beke Le Beke who went on to represent Sedibeng in the DStv Kasi Tournament in Soweto earlier this year after being crowned the Pooe Tournament champions last year.
