Addressing the gathered councilors at Saul Tsotetsi Sport complex, the number one citizen of the province said government is investing over R8 billion in the fight against crime over the next 3 years.

“If we can’t defeat crime, no one will invest in our areas. If we can’t place criminals where they belong, no one will take us seriously.

“We would rather take every cent and invest in fighting criminals. We want every inch of Gauteng to be under surveillance,” he said.

Supporting his statement, Lesufi said the government is establishing new Gauteng Police by recruiting 6500 young police who will be trained for the next 3 months. “The criteria is fearless, fit, young people who are prepared to sacrifice their lives

Lesufi further told the councilors that “we are putting trackers in every car because there are those who commit crimes with wrong number plates. We are also going to manage the issue of guns by approaching registered gun owners. Lastly, we will remove all alcohol licenses that are not compliant”.
