The morning after a botched CIT heist

The big bang from an explosion that went out during a Cash In Transit robbery on the Golden Highway just near Boitumelo and Zone 19 on Monday evening left windows, ceilings and glass doors of several homes broken.

SEBOKENG – A patch of burn from one of the motor vehicles used during the commission of the heist could be seen in between the Golden Highway.

While many gathered outside their homes, still reminiscing on the victorious less heist, many residents are picking up glasses from their broken windows.

Sedibeng Ster, visited the area to monitor the after effect of the night before mayhem.

Speaking to the paper, a resident who didn’t want to be named fearing victimization said they slept with broken windows.

“We were watching TV when we heard loud bangs nearby. It was at that moment we could hear our windows breaking. We went outside to see where the sound was coming from and we ran into a gun fight,” she said.

“We ran back into our homes and hid for safety as the gun shots went on for a short while,” she added.

Another resident said “my daughter collapsed when the bangs from the bombed vehicle played out. We had to work on her to get better while guns could be heard from the outside. We are just lucky that they didn’t pierce throughout walls as they sounded very close”.
