Sedibeng Police recovers stolen motor vehicles in Orange Farm

A car chop-shop was claimed down in Orange farm recently.

ORANGE FARM – Different law enforcers including the South African Police Service (SAPS) members including Crime Intelligence Unit, Orange Farm task team and Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU) were following a tip-off when they made, they discovered the shop.

According to police spokeswoman Constable Tlaleng Moloi said the yard discovered in Extension 2 was filled with stolen vehicles that were dismantled into parts that are smuggled or sold.

“Our teams conducted an intelligent driven operation and on arrival at the said location, they recovered a Nissan 1400, Nissan Sentra, BMW 3 Series, VW Polo, Toyota Fortuner (SUV) and a Toyota Venture,” she said.

Moloi said the vehicle Crime Investigation Unit members established that the Vehicle Identification (VIN and engine) marks on three vehicles were tempered with.

“Two of the vehicles were reported stolen. Five doors of Toyota Fortuner were also found. This is a continuous concerted effort aimed at combating crime in the area,” she said.

Moloi said no suspects arrested and the police are urging anyone with information that could help in the arrest of the suspect to call SAPS Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or sms Crime line on 32211 and MySAPSApp.
