Kidnapper and his two sons back into custody

A case against three kidnappers, a father and his two sons, has been postponed for further investigation and formal bail application.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- The trio briefly appeared for the second time at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The victim, Tebadiso Katlego Petlane (24), was kidnapped in SE 4 Vanderbijlpark, on 4 August. She was found after three days in Evaton West. She was apparently hijacked and the car subsequently broke down due to the lack of petrol on the N1 behind Polokong in Sebokeng. The suspects allegedly took her to Evaton West where it is said that their aim was to transport her to Free State and hold her there until ‘a deal’ was settled. Following the postponement of the trial, the suspects were taken to the waiting police cells. The father of the victim, Mosotho Petlane, a well known Sedibeng ANC member and his wife occupied the front seat behind the suspect in the dock. In response to a question about how he felt.

Petlane replied: “They owe me an answer to a million dollar question on why they injected such pain into my family?”
When asked if he was not intimidated as the suspects walked down the cells looking straight at him, Petlane was quick to respond: “Not me and not even in my life time. I can’t wait for the trial. This will assist me to know who are my enemies.”

Outside the court a group of ANC supporters hosted their placards with some reading:
‘Sekebekwa’ and ‘Moruti wa Tsotsi’.
