Water leakages a headache

VEREENIGING. - Democratic Alliance (DA) Ward 15 councillor Stanley Mashabela recently visited the site of the ongoing Union Street Project where new pipes have been installed.

VEREENIGING. – Democratic Alliance (DA) Ward 15 councillor Stanley Mashabela recently visited the site of the ongoing Union Street Project where new pipes have been installed.“As you can see, the big manhole that was growing here last year has been closed. I am very impressed that the project is coming to an end and Union Road will be in use soon.”

Mashabela went around Vereeniging, doing spot checks in most of the areas. Residents told Mashabela that there was water everywhere in Vereeniging because of burst pipes.Mashabela states that he is very worried about the numerous water leakages in the area.

“In this week alone I have had various complaints about water leakages and burst pipes, especially in the Vereeniging CBD. This is giving residents such a headache.

“There is a big problem with regards to the slow response by Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM).“ People complain that they are given reference numbers but there is no progress,” Mashabela concludes.
