People from outside will continue to rule us because all we have are lazy people in this region.
Solly Mkhabela has been re-elected as Safa Sedibeng President for another four years.
Yes, the very same Mkhabela who at one stage some people said he was not the right man to lead Safa Sedibeng. The man was re-elected unopposed nogal! This tells you one thing, there was or were no capable candidates to replace Mkhabela. The same happened with Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) Chairman, Jabu Mgcina who was also re-elected unopposed as the chairman of the association. TOUCHLINE is of the opinion that there are no more football administrators in this region like in the past. For example, in the past this region would be spoiled with choices when it came to leadership. It means it was a walk in the park for Mkhabela and the same can be said about Mgcina! To make it interesting both gentlemen are not originally from this region which is more worrying. But we can’t fault them for leading our football because our own people are busy fighting against each other.
Matter of fact, people from other region and provinces will come to run our football because the only things that we as Sedibeng football administrators know is to play “hard ball”. These two gentlemen must be complimented for taking charge of our football while local people are nothing but armchair critics.
People from outside will continue to lead our football as long as we don’t change how we do things as development coaches and administrators in this region. As long as we play the man and not the ball we will continue to suffer as a region. At one stage we had five teams campaigning in Vodacom League now known as ABC Motsepe League but today we are left with nothing. It pains me when I recall how this region used to have par excellence football administrators both men and women. This region used to produce par excellence football administrators, coaches and referees but recently it never rains but pours. People with no idea run our football and I don’t blame them because who know how they are to us at tarvens and shebeens.
Former Safa President, Molefi Oliphant who happens to also be the former Safa Val President must be Safa Sedibeng LifeTime President to guide the current Safa Sedibeng administrators. Ntate Oliphant still has a huge role to play in our football taking into consideration his experience.
He was and still is a par excellence football administrator to have come from this region and we must tap into his knowledge. Apart from Ntate Oliphant, this region was also blessed with par excellence football administrators such as Ntate George Thabe, Knocks Matjila, Patric Mphulenyane, Ishmael Maseli, Selokela Masetle, Grace Tshabalala-Radebe, Martin Chakane and Sipho Nkumane to mention but few.
But again there were those so called ‘Bo Preza’ as we used to called them during our playing days, they contributed a lot to the development of our football in this region. TOUCHLINE challenges the current crop of football administrator to go back and find from those ‘Bo Prezas’ who are still alive for advises.
They are the ancestors of our football whether we like it or not…..
