A man was left critically injured injured this morning after he was hit and dragged by a train at the Vereeniging Train Station.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived at the station and found the man lying some distance away from the platform.
On assessment, paramedics found that the man had sustained numerous critical injuries.
It is believed the the man had been walking on the tracks when he was hit and dragged by the train for 50 metres.
Paramedics immediately Baden treating the patient as well as providing him with advanced life support interventions.
Once treated, the patient was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
