ELM undertakes critical work at Powerville substation

"This work will improve reliability of electricity supply to the RWVWTP."

VEREENIGING.- The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) and ESKOM will be undertaking maintenance work in the next coming five days at their Powerville Main Substation, which supplies Rand Water’s Vereeniging Water Treatment Plant (RWVWTP) with electricity.

A stetement released by Eskom said that the work will start from today, Saturday 26 March until Wednesday, 30 March.

“This work will improve reliability of electricity supply to the RWVWTP. Rand Water is not anticipating any interruption over the period of the maintenance work, however, in the event of any trip, customers will be informed. As a precautionary measure, Rand Water has postponed all planned shutdowns that were supposed to take place at the beginning of April 2022 until further notice. The planned shutdowns were the S3 Pipeline that was supposed to commence from 1– 3 April 2022 and the H47 Pipeline planned for the 6 April 2022.”

Rand Water would urged consumers to continue using water sparingly.
