Watch out Mr Chairman, I’m warning you!

My experience has taught me that never trust a person who says, “You can trust me.”

Sedibeng football is like a popcorns shop with everyone coming in and out!

With the election date for the Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) still to be announced people are busy with their campaigns and people’s name are mentioned in their absence. Some people have nothing to do with elections, or have no interest at all but their names keep on being mentioned in secret meetings.

I don’t know how many times TOUCHLINE has to say this, “I’m not interested in any ‘political football positions’ in Sedibeng or should I say in Emfuleni. Those who keep on mentioning TOUCHLINE’S name to intimidate other football administrators are living in a fantasy or dream land. Every time there are elections,  the same old faces appear and challenges for positions.

People don’t sleep at night holding secret meetings just in the name of positions or power! TOUCHLINE wants to warm the ELFA Chairman, Jabu Mgcina that he should not believe everything that people tell him. As PSL Chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza would say, “Trust but not too much”.

Yours truly has been in the newsroom for the better part of my life and I’m warning you as the same the late Desmond Tutu warned ANC government under Jacob Zuma’s leadership, I quote: “I’m warning you, watch out Mr Chairman, watch out”, with Desmond Tutu’s voice!

Football is not about positions but more than that and TOUCHLINE does not understand why people become active in our football every time when elections are around the corner. The problem with our football is that people want to use it as a step to achieve their personal interest. They want to see themselves serve at SAFA National offices at the expenses of the development of our football. As things stands, our football is stuck because people are only concerned with positions.

TOUCHLINE is warning you Mr Chairman, watch out! My experience has taught me that never trust a person who says, “You can trust me.”  You don’t force people in trusting you, but you earn a trust. TOUCHLINE has been fortunate enough to be in the newsroom during the era of Dr Molefi Oliphant and George Thabe who were par excellence football administrators. The above-mentioned powerful football administrators  never asked people to trust them, they were trusted with responsibilities to take Vaal football to the highest level.

They never asked to be trusted!

The time to run our football like popcorns shop must come to an end if we are serious about the development of football in this region. Some people only come back to football every time there are elections. Why?  Are blind to see this or we trust too much?

Watch out Chairman, watch out, don’t say I didn’t warn you because you trust easily.
