Driver injured rolling taxi in residential area

VANDERBIJLPARK.- A 36-year-old man has suffered moderate to serious injuries after allegedly losing control of his taxi van on a bend and rolling into a local resident’s fence, tree and parked vehicle in the Faraday Boulevard suburb of Vanderbijlpark early on Sunday morning.

ER24’s off-duty paramedic, who happened to live across the road, was just getting ready for work when she heard a loud crash outside. Toothbrush in hand, she was on the scene at 5:30 on Sunday morning to find the van mostly on the sidewalk, on its roof, up against a tree with the driver entrapped in an awkward position.

The paramedic managed to extract the injured patient with some help, treating him with Advanced Life Support interventions before he was transported to hospital for further care.

The South African Police Services and local Fire Department were also on scene for investigations.
