Sedibeng Women in Sports Awards

“We need to continue to encourage the growth and development of women in sport."

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Sportswomen, individuals and young girls were awarded for their hard work and contribution in the development of sports at the Sedibeng Women in Sports Award held at Guest Conference in Vanderbijlpark over the weekend.
This 2nd edition of Sedibeng Women in Sports Award is a brainchild of Futballing Girls Founder, Moonira Ramathula, to recognise, celebrate and empower women in sport.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Ramathula hailed this 2nd edition awards as a success and said that it was good to see the development of the different sporting codes in Sedibeng, especially women’s rugby and basketball.


“We need to continue to encourage the growth and development of women in sport. We as Futballing Girls will continue to honour and celebrate women and young girls in sport. I want to thank all the people who made this event a success, especially our partners, NWU Vaal Campus. It was a day to remember those who walked away with awards but at the end of the day everyone was a winner,” she told Sedibeng Ster Sport.
Diphetogo Netball Club scooped two awards for Sports Club of The Year with their Coach, Neo Letsoaka walking away with the Coach of The Year Award. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Letsoaka said that this was a great achievement for the team to walk away with two awards.

“As Diphetogo Netball Club we want to take this opportunity to thank the organisers of these awards. This award means a lot to us and serves as motivation to work hard for the development of sports in our Sedibeng area. I’m very humbled to be named the Coach of The Year and I want to thank all the people who made this possible for me.”


The NWU Vaal Ladies Basketball team walked away with a Team of The Year Award, while Botle Mokoena from Jaguars Rugby team scooped Sports Achiever of The Year Award. NWU Vaal Basketball player, Phindile Nkosi was named Sportswoman of The Year.
Maria Korotsoane scooped the Volunteer of The Year Award while Vuyiswa Manda walked away with the Technical Official of The Year Award.
