‘Okae Molao’ yields success

Community members were encouraged to report all forms of abuse that is affecting them and the crime that is happening in the area. 

SEDIBENG.- Operation ‘Okae Molao’  was held in Meyerton consisting of all SAPS 14 stations and units in Sedibeng District as well as other law enforcement agencies on Thursday.

Police Spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi said that during the operation at about 10:00 Social crime prevention and Alpha trauma centre, community safety, GBV brigades, patrollers, Agape, Disang Basadi, Child welfare, CRDC held an awareness campaign in a form of door to door.

“The purpose of the operation was to educate the community about Gender based violence, human trafficking, domestic violence, rape, children safety. Community members were encouraged to report all forms of abuse that is affecting them and the crime that is happening in the area. +/- 500 pamphlets were also distributed and the community members were co-operating very well.” Msibi adds that police also got a huge success, “the illegal shebeens were closed and alcohol was confiscated and illicit cigarettes were seized. Suspects were also arrested for different crimes that include possession of drugs, selling liquor without license and dealing in drugs.”

They will all appear in their Magistrate courts soon
