ELM fleet cost more than R8 million and not R2 million as previously stated

The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) has apologised for inaccurately calculating the cost of about 24 vehicles purchased through their fleet department recently. Initially, the municipality reported the total costs of the new fleet as R2 640 566.00.

VEREENIGING. – ELM’s Spokesperson Makhosonke Sangweni says, “Kindly note that the actual cost of the fleet is R8 435 742.72 as amended by the fleet department.

” The municipality would like to take full responsibility for the ‘misinformation’ and further take this responsibility to apologise to all consumers.”

’ The fleet comprises of 9 VW Polo Sedans, 7 Double Cab Ford Rangers and 8 Single Cab Ford Rangers.

ELM says the 24 vehicles will be strategically allocated to key departments to enhance the municipality’s ability to better respond to service delivery challenges.

“The 15 bakkies will be utilised within the Electricity, Waste, Water and Sanitation Departments. The 9 sedans will be assigned to the Traffic Department to reinforce a critical need of public safety in the municipality.”
