R 480 000 fraud suspect sought

"The victim deposited R 480 000 into the company’s bank account where a false account number was set under the ‘so-called’ catering company."

VANDERBIJLPARK.- The Vanderbijlpark Police are investigating a fraud case following an incident that occurred in December last year. It is alleged that the victim was approached and convinced by her boyfriend to invest in a catering company that belonged to his friend.

Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Gertrude Makhale said that the victim deposited R 480 000 into the company’s bank account where a false account number was set under the ‘so-called’ catering company. “It is also alleged that the money was not deposited (in)to the catering company account but rather (in)to the suspects account. The suspect disappeared with a lot of cash and is nowhere to be found.”

Moreover, Makhale said it is suspected that the suspect fabricated a story to the girlfriend that he and his friend had been arrested. On further investigation it was proven that both of them had made up the whole arrest story since neither of them were found in police custody.

“The police are looking for Mr. Edmond Gasa to assist us pertaining to the fraud case. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Mr. Gasa can contact the Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Radebe on 063 128 5213 or (016) 910-9116.”
