Real Barcelona FC is one foot in the ABC Motsepe League

Real Barcelona FC is representing Sedibeng in this promotional Play-offs.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Real Barcelona FC is one foot in the ABC Motsepe League after  the team won both of their opening games of the Gauteng Regional Promotion Play Offs at NWU Vaal over the weekend. It was an encouraging performance for the local boys especially in their second fixture of the day when they beat West Rand 4-0.

This was after they beat Sibiya FC in the first fixture of the day.

Real Barcelona FC is representing Sedibeng in this promotional Play-offs which will come to an end this Saturday at the same venue. As things stands, Barcelona stands a good chance to be promoted to the ABC Motsepe League if they produce the same performance come Saturday. Real Barcelona FC will play against Alexander Gunners and Mamelodi Newcastle United FC in their next Play-offs fixture scheduled to take place at NWU Vaal on Saturday. However, not soccer fans are allowed into the venue due to the lockdown regulations.

Despite the fans not being allowed, local boys showed character winning both games against all odds and this means if Barcelona gains promotion to ABC Motsepe League, Sedibeng will have three representatives in this second division league.

Former Bafana-Bafana dreadlock midfielder Augustine “Mthakathi” Makalakalane and Bafana Bafana Team Manager, Livy Ramajoe were some of the notable names who attended this promotion play offs. At the moment, it is only Vaal Professionals and NWU Vaal that campaign in the ABC Motsepe League from this region.

Many believe that the more the number of teams increases in the ABC Motsepe League the more chances of having a professional football club from this region. As things stands, for the past ten years this region has failed to produce a professional soccer football club.
