Friends bid farewell to ‘SK’

SEBOKENG. – Speaking during the memorial service of the late Sonqoba Kunene, hosted at the Eldorado Theater in Zone 14, Sebokeng on today, Friday, Emfuleni Local Municipality’s (ELM) Thabiso Radebe reminded the audience about promises made by the government. Radebe said it was in June 2016 during the funeral of the late actor and father of Sonqoba, Nyembezi Kunene, that the local government made a pledge to the Sedibeng Creative Industry to rename the Zone 14 Eldorado Theatre to the Nyembezi Kunene Art Centre. “This was supposed to be in honour of a man who placed the name of  Vaal name on the map and international stage,” said Radebe. Radebe used to work with Sonqoba at the Department of Communications in the ELM. His former colleagues, Lerato Serero (Sedibeng Ster Editor), Zacharia Nale (Sports Journalist) and Tumelo Mofokeng (Daily S un)), spoke about hSonqoba’s passion in the field of journalism. ” A man who was always on top of his work, never missed a deadline. He used his intelligence, skills to build the nation and show love and calm,” they said
