The teams were campaigning in the Sanlam Women’s Regional League with Bophelong Ladies promoted to the then Safa Vodacom Women League. This two leagues, Sanlam and Vodacom Women League produced great players in this region such as Maestro Mofokeng, Rose Jijane, Erin Tsotetsi, Mapule “Sonono” Nteso and many other players. To date, at the moment, NWU Vaal Ladies and VUT Ladies are the only two teams that campaign in the Safa Gauteng Sasol Women League. As things stand, NWU Vaal Ladies FC look set to be promoted in the Safa National Women League if their current performance is anything to go by. If they finish among the top teams they will play national promotion play offs at the end of the season.
