Angry residents close road to cemetery

"Sometimes they demand reference number. We give it but still there’s no service.“

VANDERBIJLPARK.  – Another service delivery protest led to the community barricading Donge Street in Vanderbijlpark with rubbish, stones and trees yesterday.

The families of the bereaved had to struggle to find an alternative road to the cemetery gate. A resident living nearby said they have been struggling with electricity for some time.  “We keep on reporting to the electricity department and they keep on promising to give us attention.”

Sometimes they demand reference number. We give it but still there’s no service, “he said.

Attempts to get hold of the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) electricity department officers hit the rock.
