‘O kae molao’

"The Sedibeng area has become a concern."

SEDIBENG. – The Gauteng SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela has shown serious concerns about the spikes placed on the national and local roads by criminals.

Commissioner Mawela said his members will leave no stone unturned to clamp down on such criminals. He was speaking during operation ‘Kopano and O kae molao’ on the N1 corridor between Free State and Gauteng yesterday. Mawela said that this operation is for the Inter- Provincial operations between North West and Gauteng, between Free State and Gauteng, and between Mpumalanga and Gauteng.
He said the objective of the operation is to deal with illegal mining, stock theft and internal provincial crime.
“We deal with issue of disaster management, we check whether people comply. Stock theft is a serious isues especially here in the Vaal.
The most targeted roads are those in the Province and Municipality roads with no street lights. The Sedibeng area has become a concern.”

The law enforcement officials also visited the Vaal river bank where they came across people fishing. They further went on to a scrapyard and ended visiting Joko Tea squatter camp as part of the operation that lasted for two days.
