Great start in the Motsepe League for local teams

Newly promoted NWU Vaal FC beat Dube Continental FC 2-0 at Jabavu Stadium in Soweto.

SEDIBENG. – It was a great start for local teams when they beat Dube Continental FC and Wits University FC in their first ABC Motsepe League matches respectively over the weekend. Newly promoted NWU Vaal FC beat Dube Continental FC 2-0 at Jabavu Stadium in Soweto. This result came as a shock to the home team, taking into consideration that they were playing against a newly promoted team. It was a great performance from the NWU Vaal FC, which has been dubbed the “Purple Army” due to the colour of their jersey. Coach Tebello Kheswa, the same man who helped the club to gain promotion to the ABC Motsepe League, was on the bench for NWU Vaal. In another ABC Motsepe League match, Vaal Professionals FC hammered Wits University FC 4-1 at George Thabe Stadium in Sharpeville. It was a great result for the club, taking into consideration that they were fighting relegation last season under the leadership of other administrators, FC RESA. Vaal Professionals FC Director, Mosotho Petlane has confirmed to Sedibeng Ster Sport that the club is now back under his leadership. Over the weekend, Vaal Pros looked like a transformed team with former Kaizer Chiefs defender Mokete Tsotetsi on the bench as coach. Petlane left George Thabe Stadium with a big smile on his face after his team’s impressive win. This week Vaal Professionals FC will visit Dube Continental FC at Jabavu Stadium on Saturday while NWU Vaal FC will be at home against Highlands Park. However, supporters are not allowed into the venue due to lockdown regulations. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, NWU Vaal Football Manager, Thomas Thema said that they are consider taking the game to Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark. Initially, NWU Vaal FC was supposed to play their home games at Boipatong Stadium but due to lockdown regulations the venue has not been approved
