SASOLBURG. – On May 16 Zio’s will host their 12th annual Fun Run and 10km Road Race with the Sasolburg Athletics Club. Apart from the regular shorter races, they have added a 21km race this year.

“We are pleased to announce that we have been chosen to host a 21km race that will take place on the same day. This 21km race is proudly brought to you by the Free State Athletics organising body and will be part of the Free State Championships,” says owner Christo Ziotopolous.
You can register on the day for the 21km and 10km race as early as 06:00 on the morning of Saturday, on May 16 at the Flavius Mareka Sports Ground in Hertzog Street, Sasolburg. The official race will begin at 7:45 for the 21km, at 8:00 for the 10km and at 8:15 for the Fun Run.

A thousand T-shirts and medals will be handed out in different categories on race day. The prize money at stake totals a neat amount of R17 500 for both the 21km and 10km race. In the 10km race, for example, the prize money is R1 250 for the first man and first lady home, R600 for the man and lady in second place, R350 for those in the third and R250 for the fourth place. But that’s not all. There are many more prizes, such as for juniors and veterans in different age groups.

There are similar, slightly higher prizes for the first five positions (different categories for men and women) as well as for juniors and veterans for the 21km race

Anybody, from juniors to pensioners, is welcome to take part in the fun run and races. Those who would like to participate in the Fun Run may bring children along as well as prams and strollers as Zio would like to make this a family event.

Regretfully no animals will be allowed. You may dress up for the Fun Run as the Best Dressed will receive a prize. Schools are also welcome to participate as the school that brings the most students will receive a prize too. For more information kindly contact Catia Nunes on 072 052 6206 or visit www.zio.co.za
