ELM employees caught stealing diesel

"This happened at the time the suspects were about to pull out of the gate."

VEREENIGING. – One of the four suspects caught red handed in possession of stolen diesel from an Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) workshop in Duncanville, Vereeniging, estimated to the tune of R12 700, is a shop steward of the South African Municipality Workers Union (SAMWU). The suspects, including a female, were arrested for theft at their work place on 14 October at around 06:20. This happened at the time the suspects were about to pull out of the gate. The well placed reliable source alleged that apparently it was not the suspects’ lucky morning as this had been ongoing since the Covid-19 lockdown began. The suspects were handed to the police and charged with theft. Police spokesperson, Captain Fikile Funda confirmed the arrests. He said that the suspects briefly appeared on 16 October at the Magistrate court. The four suspects are out on bail of R2 500 each. The ELM has, meanwhile, put the four on suspension while conducting an internal investigation.
