Tsotetsi focuses on coaching

Tsotetsi was an intimidating figure during his playing days.

BOIPATONG. – For years, Jomo Cosmos has been a steppingstone for most of the talented Vaal football players.
This has been so, since the days of Augustine “Mthakathi” Makalakalane and Mabena Monnakgotla. These were the first generation of players born from the Vaal to play for Cosmos.
Mokete “Biano” Tsotetsi is amongst the players from the Vaal to have played for this legendary football club before its relegation to the national first division.
Tsotetsi was an intimidating figure during his playing days, a no-nonsense taking defender, who formed a deadly defence with the likes of Thapelo Tsilo. Cosmos was well known as the university of hard tacklers.
Tsotetsi was compared to his home boy, Aaron ‘Mbazo’ Mokoena as he left many opponents sprawling on the turf after he had tackled them.
This is the kind of approach that earned him a place in the Bafana-Bafana squad.
Tsotetsi also had a short stint with Vaal Professionals as a coach.
This Boipatong born defender’s football career skyrocketed when he joined Kaizer Chiefs and much was expected from him, but he did not reach his full potential. Tsotetsi joined Kaizer Chiefs at the time the club was struggling to return to its former glory.
When he retired from topflight football, Tsotetsi became a coach, and he looked set to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Steve Komphela and Benni McCarthy to mention but two great footballers.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Tsotetsi said he enjoyed his football career since his amateur days, playing for The Birds FC, where he launched his football career.
“I’m happy with what I achieved as a player, and playing for Kaizer Chiefs will go down as the biggest highlight of my football career. The truth is that not everyone can play for this club and I was very fortunate to play for one of the biggest clubs in the history of South African football,” he said.
Tsotetsi said now his focus is to establish himself as one of the best coaches this country has produced.
He believes his playing experience will guide him. He also told Sedibeng Ster Sport that he is looking to coach in the GladAfrica Championship with an aim to coach in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in the near future.
