Teq Problem raises the hip-hop bar high

In his latest offering titled ‘MaBrrr’, he features well respected artists Leqhwa and Freeky, also hailing from the Vaal.

SEDIBENG. – Vaal hip-hop artist Daluxolo Stemela (27) popularly known by his stage name ‘Teq Problem’ has defied the odds by being recognised among the best, both locally and across the country.

Being a qualified environmentalist, Teq uses his surroundings as a source of inspiration in the music he writes. Having started out on the hip-hop scene at the tender age of 12, Teq believes that the experience he has garnered makes him stand out. “Only few hip-hop artists can experiment with different sounds while remaining true to their artistry and I believe that I can stand out as one of them.”

Teq is dynamic in that through his musical career, he has been able to accommodate both the younger and older generation as his music is not age restrictive. He embraces the beauty of ethnicity by mostly rapping in Nguni and Sotho languages. Teq has won people’s hearts by addressing different kinds of social ills such as depression, drug abuse, human trafficking, peer pressure and sexual violation through his music.

In his latest offering titled ‘MaBrrr’, he features well respected artists Leqhwa and Freeky, also hailing from the Vaal. Talking about the single, Teq says, “It is a true definition of a hit from the Vaal Triangle because it has three of Vaal’s most decorated artists. Each point of the triangle is represented with a unique flavour. This beautiful body of work was infused by the character of the late pop culture legend- Brenda Fassie. MaBrrr, as she was affectionately known, had a free-spirit that became a million-dollar-dream to a plethora of her enthusiasts across the nation. The song is inspired by her. The spirit of MaBrrr is in session.”

Currently, Teq is working under 6AM Entertainment, a record label that he co-founded with his childhood friend Brian Tromp.
