Evaton road a pain for motorists and business people

As if this is not enough, this situation has also affected some of businesses on the road.

EVATON. – The motorists and taxi drivers have described Selbourne Road in Small Farms, Evaton, as a pain to their daily lives.
Selbourne is a main road used by both motorists and taxis alike in the area, however it has turned to be a discomfort because there are potholes and sewer spillages all over the road.
The residents said that the road was recently fixed by a local garage owner, however six months later, it is an eyesore. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, the taxi drivers and motorists said that they have to dig deep in their pockets to fix their vehicles because of this road.
They argued the local government to do something about it or close it permanently.
“My brother, this road was destroyed six months after it was fixed. This was just a temporary thing because look at it now. We fix our taxis now and then. Now we must drive on the walkway, what if we hit pedestrians accidentally? It is worse at night because there are no streets lights. We have been complaining about this situation for the past five years. The problem here is sewer spillages and a lack of storm water drains,” said a taxi owner.
As if this is not enough, this situation has also affected some of businesses on the road.
Josephine Mokgeseng, who is a shop owner, told Sedibeng Ster that the road’s condition has affected her business. She said that people used to come and buy food at her shop but because of the smell of the sewerage, they no longer come like before. Mokgeseng said to make things worse, the motorists drive on her shop’s walkway. “You can see for yourself. I put stones to prevent the motorists and taxis from driving here but sometimes they remove them. I hope when they (local government) see this story and do something.”
