Vanderbijilpark police station closed for decontamination

The Vanderbijlpark police station will be closed as the building is being decontaminated after some of their members tested positive to COVID-19.

The police station will be closed from 13:00 on Wednesday 24 June until 01:00 on Thursday 25 June so that the station can be disinfected.

This follows after at least ten officers at the police station tested positive for the Covid-19 virus disease, according to an anonymous source.

Col. Noxolo Kweza, a spokesman for the police headquarters, confirmed to the Sedibeng Ster that the station will be closed today.

“We can confirm that the police station will be closed for decontamination, but unfortunately we cannot confirm how many officers tested positive for the Covid-19 virus disease,” Kweza told Sedibeng Ster.

Sedibeng Ster reported earlier that the police stations in Bophelong and Vanderbijlpark had to close recently for decontamination.
