ELM invites informal traders to apply for new permits

The move to level 4, from the 1st May 2020, represents a general easing of the restrictions for some economic activities to take place including informal traders.

EMFULENI. – The Emfuleni Local Municipality  (ELM)  Local  Economic Development (LED) MMC Pias Maseko has invited new  permit applications from informal traders as per the new regulations which now allows cooked food deliveries. This follows the announcement of level 4 Lockdown regulations by the President that the permits issued during level 5 are no longer valid.

The move to level 4, from the 1st May 2020, represents a general easing of the restrictions for some economic activities to take place including informal traders.

“Legal compliance, Economic Development Planning, Tourism and Agriculture cluster led by Maseko hereby invites all informal traders who sell goods to apply for new permits Applications for food trading permits  can be done at the ELM’s Environmental health offices at Houtkop, Sebokeng from 08h00-17h00 from Tuesday the 5th May to Friday, the 08th May 2020.”

Maseko said that interested parties could contact Jerry Moledi (LED department: 079 254 4082) and Amos Gumede (Environmental Health department: )082 654 3014) for further details.

“As you leave your homes, you are reminded to take responsibility and practice measures to help South Africa to reduce the spread of COVID-19, such as regular hygiene practises, isolation and social distancing.Anyone who refuses to quarantine or self-isolate after testing positive for Covid-19 can be prosecuted. Please note: No mask, No entry at the gate.” Maseko concludes.

Qualifications Criteria

• Valid SA ID documentation
• Valid Passport with Working Permit endorsement( except those whose documents expired during Lockdown )
• Valid asylum seekers status( except those whose documents expired during Lockdown )
