Suspect owed deceased zone 13 woman money

“Two weeks ago, she told me that I must please tell the suspect to pay her. I didn’t see him until Sunday morning and that is when I told him. He said he would pay her on Monday but that is the day he killed her.”

SEBOKENG. – The family of murdered Zone 13 woman, Nkhala Montsi (36) believes that money might have been the motive behind her barbaric murder.

Montsi’s mother, Mirriam Kele (59) said her daughter and the suspect were no strangers as they grew up in the same area and even attended the same school at some point.

Kele said that they were all shocked by the incident. because the suspect is Kele’s neighbour.

“A few months back my daughter alerted us that she was owed money by the suspect. She never told us the amount, nor did she divulge what the money was for.

“Two weeks ago, she told me that I must please tell the suspect to pay her. I didn’t see him until Sunday morning and that is when I told him. He said he would pay her on Monday but that is the day he killed her.”

It is alleged that the suspect called Nkhala to his parents’ home in zone 13. “He called her to come and fetch her money. She went there accompanied by her son who is 14 year’s old.

The suspect then asked Nkhala’s son to go and buy airtime.  That is when he killed her.”

Speaking for the husband’s family, Kekeletso Mahlatsi (59) says, “I am their aunt. Nkhala is the one we trusted to uphold the Montsi home as my brother and his wife have passed on. Nkhala was our rose and pillar. We have lost someone very dear and important to us.”

The family believes that the actions of the man were unnecessary. “He could have just told her that he could not pay her back and not kill her in this manner. We are deeply saddened.’
