SHARPEVILLE. – A Putswa-Stena, Sharpeville taxi owner Paseka ‘Percy’ Tshabalala was brutally murdered last week. The horrific scene took place at his house in front of his wife, Itumeleng Tshabalala and their three kids.

This happened after three men gained entrance to the home after removing one of the aluminium windows in the early hours of the morning. When Sedibeng Ster arrived at the scene, the grief-stricken family was still in disbelief over the death of their loved-one. Paseka’s wife explained how the three robbers took all the money and phones and killed her husband. She says that her husband bravely tried to fight the three men who had entered their home but they overpowered him in the end.

“My husband fought with the robbers, but they tied him up and put his belt around his neck which is what caused him to die in the end. One of them entered my bedroom and told me that all they wanted was money and that they were not intending to harm us in any way. He demanded the keys to the safe and also demanded that I give him all the money from the taxi collections. “He warned his friend not to pull the belt too tight on my husband’s neck, but sadly it was too late,” says a shocked Itumeleng.

Sharpeville Police Spokesperson Captain Attie Loate says, “We are investigating a case of armed robbery and murder. At this moment, we cannot say for sure whether it was just a robbery gone wrong or if there were other sinister reasons behind the break-in. Investigations are ongoing.” Loate urges members of the community with information that can help solve this case to come forward. Members of the community can contact the investigating officers on (016) 451 2717.
