Girl (18) commits suicide after failing Grade 11

BOPHELONG. - The granddaughter of Archbishop Paul Lethoba committed suicide by using rat-poison, apparently because she had failed grade eleven.

Caroline Lethoba (18) is said to have consumed poison a day before the schools re-opened in Bophelong last Wednesday. She was a pupil at Ramosukula Secondary School near the Barrage. It is said that Lethoba was also depressed as she had lost her mother and grandmother to various illnesses last year. To make matters worse, she is also said to have been diagnosed with breast Cancer recently.
A day before the ordeal, she had apparently indicated to her younger siblings that she would soon be dead, but they took this as a joke at the time.
Caroline is said to have started vomiting in the early hours of Wednesday and her grandfather called an ambulance which did not arrive.
He then drove her to a local clinic where she was referred to the Johan Heyns Community Clinic in Vanderbijlpark where she was unfortunately declared dead upon her arrival. Archbishop Paul Lethoba is the founder of The William Paul Saint Apostolic Church in Zion of South Africa in Extension 17, Bophelong.
“I am deeply saddened by my granddaughters death as I was looking forward to her having a better future,” said the Archbishop. Caroline’s funeral service will be conducted at her home in Extension 17, Muvhango, Bophelong. on Saturday.
