Two dead, two critical in Vanderbijl accident

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after two men died and two women were been critically injured when they lost control of their vehicle and collided with a boulder on Frikkie Meyer Boulevard in Vanderbijlpark early this morning.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Gertrude Makhale confirmed that a case of culpable homicide is been investigated. She said the accident happened this morning, around 05:30 am. ER24 paramedics, Provincial services as well as the Fire found the four occupants entrapped in a VW Golf on the side of the road.

All the occupants are believed to be in their late 20s. The two men in the front seats showed no signs of life and were declared dead on arrival.

“The two women in the back seat were extracted by the Fire Department using the Jaws Of Life. They were treated and transported to Sebokeng Hospital for further care by ER24 and Provincial services,” according to ER24 Spokesperson Ross Campbell.

The South African Police Services were also on the scene for further investigations.
