It appears the man was trying to make a home for himself on one of the high-powered lines of pylons down the street.
Cobus de Wet, a firefighter who found the injured man and called for help, said he and his wife decided to go look for the man at around 9:30 on Friday morning after hearing about him on social media. Upon arrival they found the man at the scene and immediately called ER24 ambulance service. There was a mattress in one of the electricity line pylons that was supposedly used by the victim to sleep. The ambulance service applied emergency treatment at the scene. According to the ambulance service, the man sustained third-degree burns over about 50% of his body. He was taken to Sebokeng Hospital for further treatment.
