SEBOKENG.- Heavens was in jubilation when ST Rome Apostolic Church of South Africa received the Best Indigenous Gospel Award held at Loric Theatre in Johannesburg recently. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, St Rome Apostolic Church of South Africa choir conductor, Tsetso Thobatsi, said they made Sedibeng proud to receive this award. He thanked all the people who voted for them, and especially thankful to Theta FM because of their initiative gospel programme that gave the clap and tap choirs a platform to showcase their talent.
“As St Apostolic Church choir we want to thank all the Sedibeng people for voting for us and I think if it wasn’t for their votes, we could not have won this award. We delegate this award to all the people of Sedibeng and Theta FM. We are very proud to have won this award and this served as a
great motivator to the choir to win more awards in the future. We also wish to take this opportunity to thank Tsa Postola Gospel Association for their support,” he said. The founder of the Tsa Postola Gospel Association, Teboho Tsebela, said, “We are very proud with the remarkable achievement
of the ST Rome Apostolic Church choir. They opened doors for many local clap and tap choirs and we congratulate them for this award. This award showed that we as young people of Sedibeng we are capable to conquer the world with our God given talent,”
Thobatsi told Sedibeng Ster that one of the choir’s ambitions is to be part of the SAMA Awards, which is regarded as one of the biggest music awards in the South African music industry.
