SHARPEVILLE. – An emotional healing empowered by Tulas Jantjies and an emotion Psychologist was held at the Dlomo Café in Sharpeville recently.

The event was supported by women from different cultures.

Jantjies told of her rape story and discussed her upbringing, which she said was unpleasant as she was deprived of a childhood.

Jantjies said that she was raped by her grandfather, who turned her into a wife at a young age. This story brought tears to many in the audience and they started to open up about their own problems.

“There is nothing I can do about my past. What happened has happened, I cannot do anything about it, I can only look back and get over it.

“One thing a person who was abused or went through a horrific past should not do is try to force himself or herself to forget. There is no way you will forget, but you can forgive,” said Jantjies.

Memorial Moreki and Pastor Nombuso Radebe were the two speakers of the day. Moreki told the house to let go and accept. “You must accept that what happened to you has happened.

“Accept so that you can move on,” said Moreki. Radebe spoke from the heart, about her marriage and about life in general.

“As a pastor you are obligated to live a holy life and reality will be the test.

“I have been through a horrible divorce and it nearly took my humanity because I subjected myself to being humiliated by men,” said Radebe. She said the church is the house in which to stand up and live life and learn from past mistakes.

“One should not crucify themselves on their past.”
