Local girl makes into national netball team

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Suiderlig netball coach, Hanline Bezuidenhout who is also a teacher at the school said, Nthupi’s future looks great not only in netball but also academically. Bezuidenhout should know as she has coached Nthupi since she was 14-years-old.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Suiderlig High School learner Boitumelo Nthupi (16) was recently selected for the South Africa U/17 netball national team.

This was after she impressed the national team selectors during the Gauteng Netball trials. This Sebokeng born netball star’s journey started when she was selected for the Department of Education Sedibeng West District netball team until she made it to the Gauteng Netball trials.

“Boitumelo is such an amazing girl, a hard worker both in sports and academically. When were told that she has been selected for the SA U/17 Netball National team I was not surprised at all because I knew that there is a great future ahead of her. As the school we are very proud of her and she has put our school on map,” Bezuidenhout told Sedibeng Ster Sport.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport Nthupi said this is a dream come true for her and that to be selected for the national team is the result of hard work and dedication.
Nthupi told Sedibeng Ster Sport that she wants to represent South Africa in the international competitions.

“I want to thank Mrs Bezuidenout for being there for me both as my coach and teacher. I don’t think I would have been selected for the SA U/17 Netball National team if it wasn’t for her. She pushed me hard at training and always told me if I want to be successful in life I must work hard,” Nthupi concluded.

An interesting fact is that Nthupi doesn’t belong to any team in the area and she told Sedibeng Ster Sport that she will love to play for VUT or NWU Vaal Netball teams in future
