The Sedibeng District Council and the Midvaal Municipality are preparing an interesting programme for this year’s annual commemoration of the Vereeniging Peace Treaty. The events take place on May 31.
The programme includes:
* A wreath-laying ceremony at 09:00 on at the Freedom Monument in front of Vereeniging’s town hall. The event will be presented by the Mayor of Sedibeng.
* A wreath-laying ceremony takes place at 10:00 at the Block House. It will be presented by the Speaker of Midvaal, Mr Freddie Peters.
* A presentation by professional architects on the restoration of the Block House takes place at 12:00 in the Meyerton Town Hall.
* A presentation on the South African War by Dr Jackie Grobler takes place at 18:00 in the Meyerton Town Hall. It includes light snacks and entertainment.
