VEREENIGING. – A well-known and beloved attorney at Legal Aid South Africa’s Vereeniging Office, Ms Charmaine Castleman, has recently been diagnosed with terminal stage four bone and liver cancer.

Ms Castleman has served the Vaal community with passion for the past 12 years. Due to her condition, she has been placed on temporary incapacity leave which will soon be converted to permanent incapacity leave.

Although she belongs to a medical aid and receives 75% of her monthly salary, her medical co-payments have reached a point where she is unable to afford them.

Legal Aid SA’s Vereeniging Office has arranged a fundraising event that will take place on Friday, April 13. The event will be attended by around 100 guests from the Vaal Triangle Legal Community. Tickets are already sold out.

The Vereeniging Office wishes to hold an auction at the fundraiser, the proceeds of which will be donated to Ms Castleman. This event is an excellent opportunity for businesses to advertise themselves. The Vereeniging Office is requesting donations in the form of prizes to be auctioned, or cash donations.

Interested parties can contact Miss Veronica Canning or Miss Cathna Esterhuizen to discuss advertising options, or for banking details. They can be reached on (016) 421 3527 (office) or cathnadek@legal-aid.co.za or send an SMS/Whatsapp to 076 400 9089.
