Police look for man impersonating one Constable Mokoena

Koago said the suspect seems to be informed. “It is alleged the suspect will call any victim of crime, with its full information, pretending to be Constable Mokoena or someone in a high position. The suspect will then ask the victim to deposit money at Shoprite. However. the suspect will also find a way not to withdraw the money himself - using someone else,” said Koago.

BOIPATONG. – Police are looking for a fraud and impersonation suspect who has been viral on social media since last December. The false police officer, who calls himself Constable Mokoena, is being investigated for fraud and impersonation by the Boipatong Police. The suspect is alleged to have committed numerous crimes. He last posted himself on social media wearing a South African Police Services (SAPS) uniform impersonating one Constable Mokoena.

However, the uniform he wore should rank him as a Captain. Upon contacting Boipatong Police Station, police spokesperson, Sergeant Thembeka Koago said they are aware of the pretence and that countless cases are linked to the suspect – not only in Boipatong.
Koago said the suspect seems to be informed. “It is alleged the suspect will call any victim of crime, with its full information, pretending to be Constable Mokoena or someone in a high position. The suspect will then ask the victim to deposit money at Shoprite. However. the suspect will also find a way not to withdraw the money himself – using someone else.”
When asked about the cell phone number he uses, Koago said investigations are ongoing though the suspect is not using registered numbers. Another development is that the suspect has used photoshop and photo editing softwear to impede the law.
