Eleven people were left injured early this morning (9 December 2017) when a panel van crashed into the side of a taxi at the Houtkop and Van Riebeck Road intersection in Vereeniging.
Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24, reports that ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the taxi lying on its side on the side of the road. The panel van was found parked a short distance away. Several passengers from the taxi were found walking around on the scene.
Paramedics assessed the patients and found that eleven had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Fortunately, no serious injuries or fatalities were found on the scene.
The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to Sebokeng and Kopanong Hospital for further treatment.
Local authorities will be investigating this matter further.
