Opportunities are abundant in Vaal: NAFCOC Gauteng

SEDIBENG. – According to newly elected president of the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NAFCOC) Gauteng Province, Bongani Dhlamini, there are opportunities aplenty in the area but its people do not know how to utilise them.

Dhlamini spoke to Sedibeng Ster at its offices in Vanderbijlpark on Monday. This is where he also mentioned the rebuilding of the organisation where he was elected president of Gauteng Province recently and mandated with seeing to it that the organisations structures are started from scratch and all people are incorporated. Before the end of October a concrete elected structure for Sedibeng is expected to be fully functional.
“We disbanded the old structures in Gauteng and are starting afresh so as to help our people with information that they have been denied and we want to make sure that everyone is included, from the youth to women,” said Dhlamini adding that with the Vaal River City Project in the pipelines, the business community should prepare and arm themselves with knowledge.
The new city, which was unveiled by Gauteng Premier David Makhura in May 2015, will be located in Gauteng’s southern corridor, within the Sedibeng district. It will have access to key roads that link up to Sasolburg, Vanderbijlpark and Vereeniging.
Described as South Africa’s “first post-apartheid” city, the development will house 400,000 square metres of commercial office space; 60,000 square metres of retail and leisure components; 20 hectares of park areas – including a bird sanctuary and 5,000 residential units. The project has an estimated cost of R7-billion to R11-billion and will initially create up to 7,500 jobs in the construction phase alone. Dhlamini said that they have held consultative meetings at the Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre in Sebokeng.
